How to rip Dreamcast TURB models

First, extract the gdi contents using GDROM Explorer

Then use a program called SATools (Sonic Adventure Tools)

1. Go to Tools > Data Toolbox
1. For the File, choose 1ST_READ.BIN
2. Choose "Scanner"
3. Select "SA1 Dreamcast"
4. Under Scan Settings, choose "Chunk Models" and "Actions" ("actions" will get the animations)
5. Choose output folder and click Start

This will extract any models / animations it finds and convert them to SA1MDL and SAANIM files. SATools can open these. I used this to see what the models were before opening them in Blender.

To open them in Blender, use this plugin. This was probably the worst part to set up for me, but just follow the manual and it should be fine (I think I also followed a video but I don't know where it went).

Textures are easy, SATools and Noesis can open them as-is and export them.

To convert the textures to a usable format:

1. Open the SATools Texture Editor
2. At the bottom, click the Add button
3. Navigate to the IMG folder from the extracted gdi files
4. Select all and click Open. It may take a second to load
5. Go to File > Export folder texture pack and choose where to export the final images
